Night dive at Siete Pecados marine reserve

Just a mile or so to the east of Coron's market is a marine reserve has been established fairly recently called Siete Pecados. The idea is to create a "no take" zone free from the threat of dynamite fishing in order to establish lush coral growth and an aquarium style habitat for fish and invertebrates to amuse visiting divers. In January 2007 we decided we fancied a night dive there just to ring the changes a bit.

Now what can I tell you about this night dive other than that it was dark? Very dark... darker than sticking your head in a very dark place wearing sunglasses! There was a total lack of any form of ambient light, no moon, no moored boats close by, in short nothing! The water was alive with tiny shrimps which even managed to get into our ear canals - not nice! But we saw some nice life not withstanding. I'd been hoping to see the odd sea snake or maybe something sizeable alas that was not to be!

Maybe next time?
