TThe American Tanker wreck

Appra Harbour, Guam...

This is a most unusual wreck and a very interesting dive despite her somewhat unappetising description of a "concrete barge"! Rather than repeat everything we said in the main Guam page we'll let the photos do the talking instead!

The "American Tanker" barge at anchor in Appra Harbour, Guam during the war...

As always just click on any photo below which takes your fancy and a bigger version will open for you on a separate page...

First view, the wreck is bouyed at the bow... TJ and M swimming beneath the bows... Arty-farty shot through a hole in the wreck...
Plain, functional, no thrills lines - simplicity of construction was all... Find a hole big enough and we're in! And when you're in you're in (with apologies to the Floyd)!!!
TJ contemplating another hole with a view to conquer! Fish... they get in the way of a good bit of metal... erm... concrete... erm... wreck! TJ and her "Yum-Yum Yellow" fins...
Wait for the popping sound in a mo! Around the bridge area... Here we go again!
Wotchoo lookin' at??? Shape, shade, shadow and silhouette! Over the side of the werck now and swimming forward along the port side...
The skin of the wreck appears to be steel, not concrete... Martin... Mark and TJ...
Bollards mate! Sighs... more art! Bl**dy fish in the way again!
Who's that handsome beast with the shiny bonce? Not content with their bodies obscuring my view of a good bit of metal some of them even bring streamers along like this Moorish Idol! And bollards right back at you... two of 'em!
The reef growing on the modern breakwater a few metres from the wreck is very healthy... Reef fish... wish they'd stay on the reef and stop obscuring our wrecks!
